Russia asks Ukraine to cancel the ban on entry for men

Adviser to the Russian President and Chairman of the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights Mikhail Fedotov appealed to the Commissioner for Human Rights in Ukraine, Lyudmyla Denisova, asking to influence the Ukrainian authorities to cancel the ban on entry for men aged 16 to 60 with Russian passports, Interfax reports.

“I ask you, dear Lyudmyla Leontiivna, to use your authority as the main protector of human rights in Ukraine to reconsider this ban,” Fedotov said in his letter to her. He stated that Ukraine’s new policy violates human rights by not allowing people to meet with relatives, to undertake business trips, to go on vacations, to study and have medical treatment, or to go to funerals and wakes.

“That is why I am convinced that the ban also violates the rights of Ukrainian citizens who have relatives, friends and business partners in Russia,” Fedotov concluded.

Earlier, when Ukraine established martial law as a response to growing aggression, it banned Russian male citizens aged 16 to 60 from entering Ukraine. Later, Russia announced that it would not do the same to Ukrainian citizens.
