US calls on Russia to halt violence in Syria

The United States National Security Advisor for Barack Obama, Susan Rice, stated that airstrikes on hospitals in the eastern part of the Syrian city of Aleppo are reprehensible because there is no justification for them. Washington strongly condemns the bombardments of hospitals, Reuters quoted her as saying.

“The United States strongly condemns these terrible attacks on medical infrastructures and humanitarian workers. There is no justification for these horrible actions,” Rice noted, calling on Russia to reduce the level of violence in Syria. “The United States, along with its partners, again demands the immediate cessation of these bombardments and calls on the Russian Federation to contribute to the immediate de-escalation of violence as well as the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people.”

As previously reported, 40 people were killed and 180 sustained various injuries as a result of the latest bombing in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo controlled by the opposition. The airstrikes were carried out on the neighborhoods of Kadi, Asker, Melah, Ansari, Zibdiye, Firdevs, Hulluk, Shear, Sayf al-Dawla and Jhelum.

Human rights activists called on the international community to make every effort to immediately halt the barbarian bombings of Aleppo. They emphasized that the wounded are short on medication and medical supplies and that the situation in Aleppo deteriorates daily.
