Ukrainian T-64BV tanks will enter a mock battle with Abrams and Leopard tanks

Ukrainian T-64BV tanks set out to the Grafenwoehr Training Area in Germany to participate in competitions among tankmen of NATO and their partner countries with the aim of exchanging experience and strengthening military partnerships. The event will take place from May 7 to 12.

At the competition, nicknamed NATO Tank Biathlon, tank crews will practice actions in real tactical situations. The Ukrainian tank platoon will have to "engage" with the "enemy" from the USA, Austria, France, Germany, and Poland. The crews will have to both defend themselves and advance against the enemy.

The T-64BV tanks are the foundation of the Ukrainian tank forces today. The tank was created by the Kharkiv design bureau, which was headed by the Soviet chief designer and engineer, Alexander Morozov.

The combat vehicle is armed with a 2A46M-1 125 mm smoothbore gun, which can launch guided missiles from the 9K112-1 Cobra system, as well as with PKT and NSV machine guns. In addition, the tank is equipped with Kontakt-1 reactive armor.
