Ukrainian military movements have been noted near the Crimean administrative border
In the Henichesk district of the Kherson region bordering the annexed Crimea, local residents have observed the movement of Ukrainian military equipment. The residents of the town of Novooleksiyivka reported that military equipment was being transported along the railway tracks.
According to the speaker of the Ukrainian General Staff, Vladislav Seleznev, the Ukrainian military continue to strengthen the border with the Crimea with the assistance of people and technology. "We are carrying out activities to ensure a prompt and effective response to the possible aggressive actions of the Russian Federation".
"Of course, countermeasures are carried out and the equipment is moved as well. Such processes are ongoing, continuous and systematic. The Ukrainian military is ready for any scenario. Anything can happen as the enemy is unpredictable, so we are ready for everything," Vladislav Seleznev said.
Earlier, the head of the Kherson region bordering the annexed Crimea, Andrey Gordeev, said that the Ukrainian defense is at a high level of readiness.
On the 7th of August, 2016 early in the morning, the Russian Federation partially closed the checkpoint at the administrative border on the Peninsula for unknown reasons. After a few hours, the Russian Federation reopened the checkpoint to Dzhankoy. Near the towns of Kalanchak and Chaplynka the checkpoint is only open to those entering Crimea. On the night of Monday, August 8, 2016, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, access to Kalanchak is completely blocked. Movement near Chaplynka is only allowed in the direction of the Peninsula.
