Ukrainian Armed Forces: Withdrawal from demarcation line will be possible only after a sustainable ceasefire is implemented

The head of the press center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Headquarters, Ivan Arefiev, stated that Ukraine would agree to withdraw troops from the front line only after a complete cessation of attacks.

“The withdrawal of troops from the demarcation line is possible only after a sustainable ceasefire. We withdrew heavy weapons long ago. We are implementing the Minsk Agreements but we still remain because attacks on our positions have not yet ceased,” Arefiev said.

On Saturday, Russian-backed separatists opened fire on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine 29 times. On the 23rd of September, one serviceman was killed and six were injured in the Donbas.

A Ukrainian special representative to one of the subgroups of the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine, Yevhen Marchuk, previously stated that seven days of a full ceasefire is an essential condition for the beginning of the withdrawal of military divisions in the three front areas.
