Ukrainian Armed Forces: The army repelled another attack from Yasinovataya near Avdiivka

The press center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the army repelled another separatist attack near the city of Avdiivka.

According to the report, Russian-supported separatists opened fire near Avdiivka.  The weapons they used included 82-millimeter and 120-millimeter mortars, and tanks.  These weapons are strictly prohibited under the Minks Agreements.  “The separatists came from the direction of Yasinovataya.  They tried to attack one of the Ukrainian military positions but this attack was repelled,” the statement explained.

According to unconfirmed sources in the Ukrainian military, nine separatists were killed and 13 were injured between the 5th and the 8th of March.

On Tuesday, Donetsk separatists accused Ukrainian forces of “an attempt to break through the front line near Yasinovataya”, and of shelling their checkpoint.  According to the separatists, “a group of Russian journalists covering the conflict” came under fire but nobody was injured.

The area near Yasinovataya has recently become the site of fierce clashes.  The Ukrainian military reported that on March 7th, Ukrainian positions were once again attacked by separatists but were repelled.
