Tillerson and Lavrov will hold talks next week in Germany

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold talks next week in Germany. This will be their first official meeting.

The Russian minister mentioned this during an interview with channel NTV.

"Rex Tillerson, like me, will be attending the events that will be held this month in Germany. There will be a meeting of G20 foreign ministers in Bonn as well as the annual Munich Security Conference, which will be held back to back ... there will be a good opportunity to talk on the sidelines of these forums,” he said.

The Ministerial meeting in Bonn will be held on February 16-17, and the Munich Conference during February 17-19.

One of the issues that Tillerson and Lavrov will discuss is the situation in the Donbas.

"The American team that will deal with Ukraine has not been formed. But in the near future, I certainly will plan contact with the new secretary of state, and we will, of course, have discussions regarding this and other major issues of the international agenda, as well as matters regarding our bilateral relations," Lavrov said.

The Foreign Ministers of the ''Normandy Four'' (Ukraine, France, Germany, and Russia) are scheduled to hold talks on the sidelines of the G20 meeting.
