Separatists say holding elections now would be 'impractical'

Representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) said that to hold elections in the Donbas for the sake of holding elections is impractical. Separatist media quoted DPR leader Denis Pushilin, who said that to set a new election date does not make sense.

"We gave Ukraine so many chances, appointed a date with time to spare. However, Ukraine did not move in this direction. For us, holding elections for the sake of having elections is not quite feasible,” Pushilin said.

According to the spokesman of the DPR, the self-proclaimed republic has had nothing to expect from Ukraine for a long time now. "There is hope for the guarantor countries, the Western partners who can put pressure on Kyiv,” Pushilin concluded.
