Ukrainian Defense Minister: The security situation in the Donbas is worsening

Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak pointed out the worsening of the security situation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which has taken place lately.

"I see no progress. Yesterday there were 42 shellings. I do not think it is an example of improving the situation in the East of Ukraine,” Interfax-Ukraine quoted Poltorak as saying.

The minister noted that the Russian Federation showed no initiative to resolve the situation. Moreover, according to Poltorak, the Kremlin has made every endeavor to disturb the coordination of the "road map" of the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

"Ukraine is ready for the implementation of the Minsk agreements. We are working on it and fulfill our obligations," he stressed.

Earlier, the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, said that no progress had been made during the discussion of the "road map" of implementation of the Minsk agreements. At the same time, he added, Ukraine, France and Germany adhered to the same position regarding this "road map” while the Russian representatives, according to him, arrived at the recent Normandy format meeting in Minsk without any clear position on this matter.
