So-called DPR acknowledges their passports will not enable residents to travel to Russia

The authorities of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic acknowledged that inhabitants of the break-away region won't be able travel to Russia using passports issued by the self-declared republic, Rosbalt reported.

According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of so-called DPR, it is possible to leave the rebel-controlled Donetsk region and enter the Russian Federation using only a Ukrainian passport.

"Minor citizens under 16 years of age will need a birth certificate or a travel document of a child. Travel abroad is also possible if accompanied by a parent who has a Ukrainian passport in which the child is endorsed,” the website states.

In April, it was reported that a draft bill making it possible for inhabitants of the so-called DPR and LPR to obtain Russian citizenship was introduced in the State Duma. The initiative was taken by a deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), Vadim Solovyov. He suggested issuing Russian passports to residents of the unrecognized republics whose Ukrainian passports had expired or had been lost after legally entering Russian territory.
