Separatists nationalize all Ukrainian enterprises in territories not under Ukrainian control

Enterprises under Ukrainian jurisdiction which are in the separatist-held areas of the Donbas are now being administered by separatists.

“As of midnight on March 1, Ukrainian enterprises in the jurisdiction of the DPR (Donetsk People’s Republic) are under state administration,” reported Russia's Interfax news agency citing a source in the Council of Ministers of the Donetsk People's Republic.

The LPR (Luhansk People’s Republic) also confirmed to Interfax the change to a new administration.

“We are introducing a new administration to LPR, and taxes will be paid to the Republic,” the source stated.

Currently in the DPR and LPR there are several large factories and dozens of mines which are still under Ukrainian jurisdiction. In the territory of the DPR, these include the Yenakiieve metallurgical plant and Khartsyzk pipe plant, which belong to the Metallinvest group. Also in the territory are the Yasynuvata and Makiivka coke plants and the Donetsk metallurgical plant, which belong to the Donetskstal group. Additionally, there are more than 20 mines in the territory of the DPR, the largest of which is the Zasyadko coal mine in Donetsk.

In the LPR territory are Krasnodonougal LTD and the Alchevsk plant, belonging to Metinvest Corporation, and also the Rovenkianthracite and Sverdlovskantracite mines, which belong to DTEK enterprise.

Wages at these enterprises are paid in Ukrainian hryvnias.
