Russian aircraft near Ukraine's borders have been put on two-minute readiness alert

Russian planes near Ukraine's borders have been brought into a state of a two-minute readiness, as reported to UNIAN by the Russian Defense Ministry.

According to this information, "air defense missiles and radio troops of the Southern Military District combat squads marched into new positions as part of the sudden combat readiness check. Fighter aircraft have also relocated to the operational airfields and have begun combat duty for air defense in the Southern Federal District."

Radar systems of various modifications involved in conducting the sudden combat readiness check, including Nebo, Kasta, Desna, Gamma and Oborona, allowing for the control of the entire airspace from level zero to a few tens of kilometers high and at a distance of a few hundred kilometers. The S-400 Triumf, and S-300 Favorit anti-aircraft missile systems and the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft artillery weapon system squads conducted training tactical missile launches against conditional targets, having worked out the interaction with Southern Military District air defense units command posts.

"The crews of the Su-27 aircraft are located in the on-duty airfields in a state of readiness to take off within two minutes upon command to detect airborne targets, classify them and use all available means, including aircraft armaments, in order to prevent the violation of the airspace border," the message reads.

In addition, the crews of the Su-25 front-line attack aircraft bombers and Mi-28N, Mi-35M and Mi-24 attack helicopters of the Southern Military District have practiced providing cover to armor and motor vehicle column movement during the regrouping of forces engaged in the sudden inspection. Army aviation aircrews have performed aerial reconnaissance tasks, including tactical air strikes against ground targets and covering ground troops from the air along the movement routes for equipment during marches to the specified grouping areas. The combat helicopter crews, after completing the tactical combat application of the anti-aircraft weapons, also shot thermal traps and practiced maneuvering elements in the air to preventing a retaliatory missile attack from the ground.

As previously reported, the Russian Defense Ministry will check the Russian Ministry’s and the Central Bank's readiness for war. The unannounced inspections of the Russian Armed Forces began on August 25 and will last until 31 August.
