Ukraine: Russia is moving troops to the administrative border of Crimea
On August 4, a representative of the State Border Guard service, Oleh Slobodian, stated that Ukrainian border guards had observed a rotation of Russian Federation Forces in the Crimea near the administrative border, Krym.Realii reports.
“A rotation of Russian Armed Forces is taking place at the administrative border between the occupied Crimea and the Kherson region. From July 27 to July 30, a significant part of military equipment and personnel from the Russian Armed Forces moved from the Krasnodar Region to the temporarily occupied territory of the Crimea through the Kerch ferry crossing,” he said.
In particular, according to a spokesman, the 247th Airborne Assault Regiment from Stavropol and 7th Airborne Assault Division from Novosibirsk have been moved to the area. “It is expected that the newly arrived military units will replace the 11th Air-Assault Brigade from Ulan-Ude (city in the Republic of Buryatia). These servicemen have been in the territory of the annexed Crimea since March of this year,” Slobodian added.
Earlier, it was reported that on the administrative border with the Crimea, border guards from the Ukrainian Kherson and Berdyansk units detected six Russian Mi-8 helicopters flying over the territory of the peninsula.
A new administrative border has been established between mainland Ukraine and the peninsula after the annexation of the Crimea by Russia in early 2014.
As was previously reported, Russia is preparing for a large-scale war and is moving troops to the Ukrainian border. According to the Russian Deputy Minister of Defense, Dmitry Bulgakov, Russian Armed Forces intend to conduct about four thousand exercises by the end of the year.
