Poroshenko: We are building bridges with Trump's team

The President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, expressed his satisfaction that a dialog with the new U.S. Presidential administration is being built, Korrespondent.net reported.

"At the moment I am happy with how we are building bridges and building up a dialog with the new U.S. administration," said the head of the state, delivering a speech during the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ operational meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.

He reminded that he had held an important meeting with the U.S. Vice President, Michael Pence, in Munich, as well as telephone talks with the U.S. Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson. In addition, according to Poroshenko, an effective telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump had taken place before that.

"At the same time I am very disappointed with the fact that a number of Ukrainian politicians have been hired as lobbyists in Washington, to plot and put obstacles in the way of domestic diplomacy towards the deepening of the American-Ukrainian partnership," the head of the Ukrainian state said.

As was previously reported, the leader of the All-Ukrainian Union "Fatherland" ("Batkivshchyna"), Yulia Tymoshenko, met with Donald Trump, whom she allegedly watched for near a men's room. Later, Tymoshenko denied the information about meeting him there.

Also, a People's Deputy, Andriy Artemenko, appeared at the center of a scandal this week. He provided former security adviser to the U.S. President, Michael Flynn, with a plan for lifting sanctions against Russia. In particular, this plan calls for holding a referendum on Ukraine’s transfer of the Crimea to Russia "for a 50 to 100 year lease" and "the withdrawal of Russian troops from eastern Ukraine."
