Mother of the Russian soldier captured in the Donbas was allowed to visit him in Ukraine
Pavel Kanygin, a journalist from the Russian newspaper, Novaya Gazeta, published a photo on his Facebook page of Russian serviceman, Victor Ageyev, who has been detained in the Donbas, with his mother. In addition, the correspondent relayed the details of the meeting between Ageyev and his mother.
“Svetlana Ageyeva submitted an application asking to see her son and was able to meet with him. At first, she saw her son in the presence of journalists, along with me were a few colleagues from foreign publications, but now Svetlana Ageyeva is talking with Victor privately. Thus, the promises were fulfilled,” Kanygin wrote. The journalist also noted that she gave her son a parcel containing sweets and clothing.
He also said that the Russian serviceman, who had not seen his mother for four months, looks good, but was worried because the meeting with his mother was almost a surprise for him.
The Russian correspondent stressed that during the time that Ageyev was in custody, no Russian representatives have come to visit him, including the Russian counsel. In addition, Kanygin noted that the representatives of the Ukrainian authorities have treated Ageyev’s mother well.
Ageyeva stated that she was worried that she would face aggression in Ukraine. She was concerned after reading comments about the situation in Ukraine posted on Russian social networks. Despite the fact that her son is being accused of serious crimes, his mother is treated respectfully, she is provided with assistance and was met halfway," the journalist concluded.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine reported that the mother of a Russian military serviceman, Viktor Ageyev, who was detained in the Donbas, was given permission to meet with her son.
The SBU insisted that she should appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin to release Ukrainian hostages.
Ageyev is being held in the Starobilsk pre-trial detention center (Luhansk region). Ageyev's actions are considered as acts of terrorism in Ukraine.
