Moldova insists on the withdrawal of the Russian troops from Transnistria

The Republic of Moldova reaffirms its position on the withdrawal of Russian troops and weapons from Transnistria. This was announced during the Moldovan-Russian consultations that took place in Chișinău, the news agency UKRINFORM reported.

The head of the Moldovan delegation, Darii Lillian, who is the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, said that Moldova insists on the replacement of the Russian peacekeepers in the security zone on the Dniester by the mission of the civil observers under the auspices of the international organizations.

The resumption of the Transnistrian negotiations in the format "5+2" (Moldova, Transnistria— parties to the conflict; Ukraine, OSCE and Russia— the guarantors; the EU and US— observers) were also discussed during the consultations. The head of the Russian delegation, Grygoriy Karasin, who is the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, welcomed the restoration of the bilateral contacts between the representatives of Chișinău and Tiraspol.
