Media sources reveal that the Commander of Russia’s Air Assault Battalion was killed in Syria

The Commander of Russia’s Air Assault Battalion, a native of Kalmykia, Major Sanal Sanchirov, was killed in action in Syria. Sanchirov was buried in his native village Yashkul, the representative of Administration of Yashkul district told RIA Novosti. “Sanal Sanchirov was buried in his native village Yashkul. The civil funeral service was organized on December 13,” the administration representative explained.

He refused to comment on Sanchirov’s death during hostilities in Syria. As Newsru.com reported, the information about his death appeared in social networks last week. According to unofficial data, he was killed while performing his military duty in the Syrian Arab Republic.

On December 19, the Administration of Yashkul settlement confirmed the information about Major Sanchirov’s death to the Meduza media outlet. Meanwhile, there was no official confirmation from the Ministry of Defense. His cause of death remains unknown.
