Media: Representatives of the so-called Donetsk People's Republic are visiting Ukrainian prisons

Representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic are already visiting Ukrainian prisons to verify convicts and detainees held there for crimes against Ukraine, as reported by Hromadske TV, citing sources in the Ukrainian government.

According to the media, the process of verifying convicts and detainees from the self-proclaimed DPR who are being held in prison for crimes against Ukraine is already under way, and representatives of the "republic" have already visited several sites in the territory under Ukraine's control. It was earlier reported that the verifications are being carried out not by representatives of the Donetsk People's Republic, but by the relatives of prisoners who live in the temporarily uncontrolled territory.

In addition, representatives of the Luhansk People's Republic intend to join the verification process starting on May 4th. This process is designed to confirm or refute the unwillingness of prisoners to be transferred to the uncontrolled territories as part of a prisoner exchange. The verification is taking place with the participation of the OSCE representatives.

On April 11th the DPR returned 14 prisoners to Ukraine to continue serve their sentences there.
