Media reports indicate that the United States supplied Syrian Kurds with 130 truckloads of weapons over the past 10 days
The United States continues to supply arms to the members of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) to fight the terrorist organization the Islamic State. Over the past 10 days, 130 trucks laden with weapons arrived in the PYD-controlled regions of Syria, Anadolu reports.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump signed plans to supply Syrian Kurds with heavy weapons such as mortars and machine guns. Possible supplies of weapons to the Kurds caused the sharp displeasure of Ankara, which believes that these Kurdish units are closely related to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party banned in Turkey. This organization is recognized by Ankara, as well as Washington as terrorists.
On Friday alone, fifty trucks of weapons made their way through the territory of Iraq to the Syrian province of Al-Hasakah. On June 5, the US sent sixty trucks of weapons to PYD-controlled areas. On June 12, they sent twenty trucks.
In the single month after Trump legalized the supply of weapons to PYD, at least 348 trucks full of weapons arrived in the region.
According to Anadolu, the Pentagon says that the list of weapons the US plans to deliver to PYD includes 12 submachine guns, 6,000 machine guns, 3,500 mounted machine guns, 3,000 RPG-7 grenade launchers, a thousand American-made AT-4 grenade launchers and SPG-7 anti-tank grenade launchers. In addition, 235 mortars, 100 sniper rifles and 450 PV-7 night vision binoculars are planned to be delivered to Syrian Kurds.
