Macron spoke with Putin on the phone
French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on Thursday. According to the Kremlin's website, the fight against terrorism and work within the framework of the "Normandy format" were discussed.
"The possibility of an upcoming in person meeting was also discussed," the message says. Macron took office as a French President on May 14th.
On May 16th, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that the first contact between Ukraine and the administration of the new French president has already taken place. However, the leaders of the two countries haven't talked yet.
This weekend Poroshenko will visit Berlin to talk with German Chancellor Angela Merkel about organizing a meeting of the Normandy Four.
