Kremlin: Methods of pressure on Russia do not work
New sanctions approved by the US Congress and the Senate, against Russia reflect the desire of the American people to see steps to improve relations with Russia. This was stated in an official statement by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
"The near unanimous votes for the sanctions legislation in Congress represent the strong will of the American people to see Russia take steps to improve relations with the United States. We hope that there will be cooperation between our two countries on major global issues and these sanctions will no longer be necessary, " said the head of the State Department in the statement.
Tillerson also added that "we will work closely with our friends and Allies to ensure our messages to Russia, Iran, and North Korea are clearly understood."
Moscow reacted to Tillerson's statements.
According to a statement by the Russian embassy in the United States, Washington will not achieve improved relations with Moscow with sanctions; the words of US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in this regard "cause only bewilderment." This was reported RIA Novosti.
"The State Department's statement on July 29 on the Sanctions Bill approved in Congress can not cause anything but bewilderment. Washington did not understand that the methods of pressure and confrontation toward Russia do not work, and further, more sanctions will not improve relations," reported the Russian embassy.
