American journalist refused to apologize for his article about the murder of Russian ambassador

A journalist for the American newspaper New York Daily News, Gersh Kuntzman, refused to apologize for an article about the murder of the Russian Ambassador to Turkey, Andrei Karlov, whom he compared with the ambassador of the Third Reich.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry official spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the agency would send a letter demanding an apology from the New York Daily News for an article in which Karlov was compared to an ambassador of the Third Reich. According to her, Kuntzman calls Karlov’s murder an "accomplished justice" and the article as a whole justifies the terrorist’s actions.

In another recent article, Kuntzman lashed out against Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian government, accusing them of violating international regulations in recent years in Georgia, Ukraine, Syria and other countries.

According to Kuntzman, the ambassador’s murder was the result of Russia’s policy, and his killer was "not a terrorist but a soldier." At the same time, Kuntzman assures that he opposes terrorism and condemns it.

He also wrote that after publication of the first article, he received "dozens of letters from American readers who opposed him.” He considers it a "disturbing trend.”

Ambassador Karlov was shot dead on December 19 during a speech at the opening of a photo exhibit on Russia in Ankara. The body of the deceased has been delivered to Moscow. Karlov’s funeral is scheduled for Thursday. It was recently reported that a street in Ankara was going to be named after the murdered Russian ambassador.
