New Foreign Minister of Poland expressed hope for quick resolution of historical issues with Ukraine

The new head of the Polish Foreign Ministry, Jacek Czaputowicz expressed his hope for an early settlement of historical issues with Ukraine, as reported on the website of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Czaputowicz had his first telephone calls with the Foreign Ministers of Hungary (at the request of Hungary) and Ukraine.

"Minister Czaputowicz reaffirmed Poland’s commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and stressed that Poland will continue to support Ukraine’s European aspirations," the statement reads, adding that "During the conversation he also expressed hope that problematic issues in relations between Ukraine and Poland will be solved soon."

Czaputowicz is known for having supported Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sanctions regime against the Russian Federation even before he was appointed to the post.
