Moldova calls on Russian troops not to participate in the Victory Day parade in Transnistria

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova called on so-called Operational Group of Russian Forces (OGRF) not to participate in the Victory Day military parade in Transnistria on May 9, Deschide news agency reports, citing a statement by the Moldovan Foreign Ministry.

According to the statement, information about the organization of the military parade on May 9 was published in the local press.

The Ministry stated that "it disapproves of the decision and the attitude of the military command of the OGRF, and calls on the authorities of the Russian Federation to refrain from military actions challenging the constitutionality of the Republic of Moldova", the statement says.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs draws attention to the risks that might impact the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict.

"Such actions grossly undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova. The Ministry reminded that the Russian Federation repeatedly, openly and clearly advocated the observance of these principles", the statement of the Ministry says.

In this regard, the Ministry once again stressed the position of Chisinau on the withdrawal of Russian military forces from the territory of Transnistria.

The Operational Group of Russian Forces a combined contigent of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation stationed on the territory of the unrecognized Transnistrian Republic. The command center of the OGRF is located in the city of Tiraspol.
