Kremlin: Russia will respond to new US sanctions

Russia will respond promptly to new US sanctions if they are introduced, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, Izvestia reports.

“We need to wait for developments with respect to the Americans’ announcements of one decision or another. And we will definitely respond,” the diplomat said.

According to the deputy foreign minister, “all possible courses of action are being analyzed, and all response options will be on the Russian president’s table when and if it becomes necessary to respond not only verbally, but also materially to potential hostile steps against Russia”.

However, Ryabkov noted that it is still too early to say what the new US sanctions will be.

US President Donald Trump’s administration is preparing a list of high-ranking Russian officials and businessmen who are close to the government, the so-called “Kremlin report”. The document will be presented to Congress in January.
