Poland to hike tariff on Russian gas transit
The Polish government plans to revise the conditions pertaining to the transit of Russian gas through the country after the current contract expires, Polish Secretary of State for Strategic Energy Infrastructure Piotr Naimski told the press.
According to the official, 29 billion cubic meters of Russian gas are pumped through Poland every year, but the tariffs are so low that the country only receives 21 million zloty (around $5.4 million) in revenue from it.

Russia moves Tu-160 strategic bombers closer to US border

NATO fighter jet approaches Russian Defense Minister’s plane
In the afternoon of August 13, the F-18 fighter jet of NATO forces approached the Russian aircraft over the Baltic to identify it. The Alliance did not know that Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu is on board of that plane, reports TASS news agency with reference to the NATO's press service. Belarusian company excluded from project in Lithuania for ties with Russia
The Latvian government has excluded consortium of the Kaunas-based company KRS and the Belarusian company Beltruboprovodstroy from the tender for the construction of the Gas Interconnection Poland–Lithuania (GIPL). The reason for that was the business ties of the Belarusian company with the Russian companies and contacts with legal and physical persons who “present a risk to Latvia”.

During the period between August 5-11, NATO air patrol aircraft detected and escorted Russian aircraft nine times over the Baltics, reports Radio Liberty.
According to the Lithuanian Defense Ministry, in most cases, Russian warplanes crossed into the in the country's airspace with transponders turned off.
