Ukraine to submit to International Criminal Court evidence of Russia's war crimes
Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Office has documented evidence of Russia’s recent offences against warfare law, which was violated during an artillery firing on a Nikolaeva-2 village. The Office plans to submit these reports to the International Criminal Court in Hague, the state authority press-service reports.
“Russian-terrorist forces using heavy artillery, in violation of international humanitarian law, carried out targeted artillery fire of Nikolaevka-2 village (in Bakhmut Raion of the Donetsk Oblast),” the report stated. “The fire was conducted from the temporarily occupied territory of the Donetsk region on 05/17/2018 at about 07:00.”
It is noted that as a result of the artillery shelling, roughly 4 residential houses, farm buildings and household plots were destroyed.
“It is ascertained that the artillery shelling was conducted with a 122-mm shell caliber from the Holmivskyi village of the Donetsk Oblast (temporarily occupied territory),” the report stated. “Measures to identify the persons involved in the crime commission are being taken.”
Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Office added that evidence of Russia’s violation of international law would be submitted to the International Criminal Court.
Earlier today, the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) demonstrated the consequences of the artillery bombardment of three settlements in the Donbas: Nikolaevka-2, Svitlodarsk and Stara Avdiivka. Fortunately, there were no injuries among the local residents.
