Ukraine begins state testing of new missile system

Ukraine has begun state testing of the new Vilha (Alder) missile system, National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov announced.

“The tests are the finalization of an extensive project by Ukrainian scientists, engineers and manufacturers,” said Turchynov.

According to Turchynov, once the testing has been completed, the Vilha missile systems will be adopted into the armament and serial production of them will begin.

In February, the NSDC secretary announced that Ukraine would start testing the new Vilha missile system in March, and would begin testing the first Ukrainian cruise missile “at the end of this year or the start of year year”.
