Turkey opens military operation control center in eastern Syria

On March 31, Turkish Minister of Defense, Hulusi Akar, accompanied by the commanders of the country's troops, inspected military units stationed near the border with Syria. As part of the trip, the head of the military department took part in the opening of the Joint Operational Center for the management of the planned “anti-terrorist operation” in Syria’s territory, located east of the Euphrates River, reports Anadolu.

The Turkish generals also drew attention to the military actions in northern Iraq.

“Aviation from the early morning strikes at the terrorist targets in the north of Iraq. The Turkish Air Force operation continues in accordance with the plan,” said Hulusi Akar.

Earlier on Saturday, Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said that if the United States does not eliminate the threat of terrorism in the Syrian areas located east of the Euphrates River, Ankara would take all necessary steps to achieve this. Preparation for this military operation is completed, said the Turkish leader.
