Kremlin accuses the US of involvement in the attack on Khmeimim military base in Syria
The attack on the Khmeimim air base in Syria was a result of the failure of the Syrian military and the increased activity of the American special services that are “working with the militants”, as stated by the first deputy chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the Federation Council, Franz Klintsevich, during a broadcast of NSN news.
"This only happened because our troops were withdrawn, and there were just enough of them left to keep the military base functioning. What was guarded by our military, today was transferred "for safe keeping" to the armed forces of the Syrian Arab Republic. The approach has changed," Klintsevich said.
He noted that after a statement by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on the defeat of ISIS, there was a considerable increase of the activity of American special services "to restore their tools, which were lost."
"We need to talk openly about this shameless behavior of the US special services, which not only work specifically against us, as they train these units, arm, and feed them there - at their base. And after that they conduct sabotage. I am not excluding the possibility that the group that conducted this diversionary act, representing ISIS, was led by someone from the US Special Forces. They approached, fired several shots from a mortar, and left," the senator said.
According to Klintsevich the Americans will continue to take advantage of the situation. However, the Russian military have something to answer this with.
"They need to understand: we have Afghanistan and the North Caucasus behind us. We know American tactics and we know how to deal with it. Our victims will dearly cost these guys. I am convinced of this. We do not recommend joking with us in such a way, especially on the eve of the holidays," Klintsevich stressed.
According to the senator, the fake news media launched the story about the destruction of Russian aircraft, which is also part of the American information war.
"Hundreds of millions will learn and replicate the information that the Russians declared about the destruction of the Islamic State, and that seven aircraft were shot down. The official statement of the Defense Ministry will be read by a very small number of people. Americans always use this information war tactic. But I have to disappoint the Americans here. We live in the 21st century, and our conversation with you will surely reach the reader. We have already become accustomed to such approaches. They will not change, and such informational diversions will only intensify," senator Klintsevich concluded.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on the deaths of two Russian soldiers as a result of the mortar shelling of the Khmeimim air base on December 31st. The Ministry denied the destruction of seven military aircraft.
