Ukrainian Security Service publishes names of Russian mercenaries killed in February fight with Americans in Syria
Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) published names of 50 mercenaries of the Russian private military company (PMC), the Wagner Grour killed in February fight with Americans in Syria.
The list was published on the SBU website on Tuesday.
The list includes not only Russian citizens but also several Ukrainians from the Luhansk and Kharkiv regions, as well as one Moldovan and one Armenian citizen.
On February 7 in Syria, pro-government armed groups attacked the headquarters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which hosted American advisers. The US-led coalition responded with strikes that caused the death of more than a hundred people. As it turned out, the Russian mercenaries who were trying to seize the oil field in the territory of Khasham village were hit by air strike.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation rejected information about the Russians killed during the air strike. The department claimed that there were no Russian servicemen in the area of the incident, and the "local militiamen’s" operations were not agreed with the Russian command.
