Russian region decides to integrate with DPR and LPR
Authorities of the Russian Oryol oblast (region) decided to create a working group to facilitate integration and cooperation with the so-called Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics, as stated in the decree by acting governor of the region Andrey Klychkov.
The working group includes officials from provincial and municipal administrations, as well as region representatives. According to the decree, the main task of the group is to coordinate the cooperation of the region with the separatist republics.
According to Klychkov, Oryol oblast authorities only streamline the social and economic joint work with the LPR and DPR. “Cultural and business ties between people can’t be banned. Our task is to create comfortable conditions for people,” the newspaper Kommersant Voronezh quotes the governor as saying.
The governor believes that his decree does not violate any international law. He is confident that the mentioned territory in the document economically leans towards Russia.
According to Sergey Lezhnev, Klychkov’s adviser, the working group’s goals are cultural exchange and humanitarian assistance to the DPR and LPR.
