Russian landing ship conducts combat shooting drills in the Black Sea

The crew of the large landing ship Caesar Kunikov of the Russian Black Sea Fleet carried out an artillery firing at the coastal, sea and air targets in one of the Black Sea training ranges, reports "Krym.Realii" news site with reference to the Russian Black Sea Fleet press service.

It is noted that the shooting took place in accordance with the combat training plan.

“When practicing combat actions to support naval forces during a landing on the coast, the ship crew performed firing from an artillery unit at coastal targets imitating enemy firing points, and then worked out actions to repel air attacks from a hypothetical enemy,” said the press service.

In addition, Russian artillery crews completed a task of destroying a floating sea mine simulator.

Earlier, on January 21, air defense crews of a small missile ship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Orekhovo-Zuyevo during an exercise off the Crimean coast practiced to repell an attack by a front-line bomber Su-24M.

After the annexation of the Crimea in 2014, Russia regularly conducts military exercises on the peninsula. The General Staff of Ukraine calls the actions of the Russian military in the Crimea illegal.

The UN General Assembly resolution, adopted in December 2018 in connection with the militarization of the Crimea, the Black and Azov Seas, calls on Russia to withdraw its troops from the territory of the Crimea and condemns the growing Russian military presence in the Black and Azov Seas.
