Russia deploys a battery of S-400 missile systems in Kaliningrad region

The press service for the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russia deployed a battery of Triumph S-400 missile system in the Kaliningrad region.

According to the Russian military, the systems will protect the airspace of the most western region of Russia and are part of the anti-aircraft missile regiment of the air defense of the Baltic Fleet.

The S-400 arrived from the Astrakhan region, where they conducted test combat shooting.

The Russian S-400 is designed to defend airspace and are capable of shooting down strategic and tactical aircraft, ballistic missiles, as well as hypersonic targets and provide protection against electronic and other types of attacks.

The systems are capable of hitting aerodynamic targets at a range of up to 400 kilometers and ballistic targets at up to 60 kilometers.

The recently published report of the Swedish Institute for Defense Studies questioned the strength of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system. According to experts, Russia’s capabilities are not so terrifying, especially considering potential countermeasures.
