Russia conducts aviation exercises over the Sea of Japan

TASS reports, citing the press service of the Russian Eastern Military District, that the reconnaissance aircraft Su-24MR of the Aerospace Forces of Russia carried out scheduled flights over the Sea of ​​Japan.

The Su-24MR are a part of an aircraft unit deployed in the Primorsky Krai territory. During the flight, the aircraft worked on the search and detection of the hypothetical enemy’s targets. These exercises were conducted in collaboration with the air defense forces on duty and the Pacific Fleet ships.

Pilots also carried out flights during the night, while observing all the international law rules.

Earlier, the Japanese Ministry of Defense reported the interception of the Russian anti-submarine patrol aircraft Il-38, which flew near the Japanese sea border. The Japanese military noted that the aircraft flight happened off the west coast of Honshu Island, the aircraft flew 1.2 thousand km from south to north of the island and returned to the base. The Ministry of Defense of Japan stressed that in this case, the IL-38 did not violate the island state’s airspace.
