Putin's special envoy to inform Iran about talks with USA

According to RBC news agency, the Special Representative of the President of Russia for Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev will visit Tehran on July 18 to inform the Iranian leadership about the results of the Russian-American meeting and to coordinate possible joint actions based on the agreements reached in Helsinki. Lavrentiev himself was present at the talks in Helsinki.

The meeting of the Russian Presidents, Vladimir Putin, and the American President, Donald Trump, took place on July 16 in Helsinki. The question of Iran was also discussed at the meeting, as follows from the joint statements of Trump and Putin following the meeting. One of the agreements reached is related to the participation of the Iranian military in the Syrian conflict.

Putin said that after "the final defeat of terrorists in the south-west of Syria, in the so-called Southern de-escalation zone, the situation on the Golan Heights, should be brought into full compliance with the 1974 Agreement on the separation of the Israeli and Syrian troops ".

"This will bring peace to the Golan, restore the ceasefire between the Syrian Arab Republic and Israel, and ensure the security of Israel,” Putin said.

Shortly before the meeting of Russia and the USA, the adviser of the supreme leader of Iran on international affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati, visited Moscow. Putin met with him on July 12.
