Poland wants to increase US military presence in the country

Poland expects that the number of American soldiers present in the country will increase this year, as stated by the new head of the Polish Ministry of Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak, at a meeting with US National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster in Washington. According to PAP news agency, Błaszczak expressed the government's position as follows: "I said - and this is the position of the Polish government - that we expect a more numerous presence of US troops in Poland." "We guarantee that this presence will be good for the security not only of Poland, but of the whole of Europe; I mean Central and Eastern Europe," the Defense Minister added.

Błaszczak traveled to Washington for negotiations regarding the purchase of the Patriot missile defense system, which was initiated back in November of last year. At the time, the US authorities offered to sell the Patriot missile system to Poland for $10.5 billion dollars. This is $2 billion dollars more than the amount that Poland intends to spend on its entire anti-missile defense program.
