Ukrainian analogue to Russian Armata tank was patented

A competitor to the Russian Armata tank, the Ukrainian Tirex tank, was patented in Ukraine. A patent for the development was published on the website of National Industrial Portal.

Similar to the Armata, the Tirex will be equipped with an armored capsule with seats for three crew members, as well as an uninhabited tower. The tank will be equipped with 125-millimeter guns with a remotely controlled automatic loading mechanism and machine guns, as well as Nizh and Duplet explosive reactive armor.

Unlike the Russian version, Tirex is not a standalone invention, it was designed to modify the old Soviet T-64 and T-72 tanks.

It was anticipated that the first Tirex tank would be released before the end of 2016. The manufacturer reports that the new vehicles "are comparable to the most modern armored combat vehicles, including the highly publicized Armata."

The Armata is the latest battle tank created on a universal track platform.
