At a conference to review the results of the second meeting of the Advisory Board of the Southern Gas Corridor in Baku, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Berat Albayrak, stated that “the Southern Gas Corridor is an essential project in ensuring energy security.”
According to him, Turkey strongly supports the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project, as reported by Trend.

As was reported earlier, a US State Department spokesman stated that “the Southern Gas Corridor might ensure the real diversification of energy security for Europe.”
The Southern Gas Corridor is one of the priority projects for the EU and will provide transport for 10 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas from the Caspian region through Georgia and Turkey to Europe. At the beginning, gas which will be extracted during the second phase of the development of the Azerbaijan Shah Deniz gas condensate field will be the source for the Southern Gas Corridor project. At a later stage, other sources may be included.
