Tu-160 and Tu-95 bombers are being prepared for use in Syria

Crew from the Tu-160 and Tu-95 Russian strategic bombers at Engels airbase, located in the Saratov region in the Russian Federation, are preparing the bombers for combat use, a military-diplomatic source informed TASS on November 13.

According to the source, “currently, engineering staff from the base are setting cruise missiles on planes and preparing missile carriers for combat use. Air strike groups from the airbase are ready to perform tasks including operational launching of cruise missiles,” the source noted.

Long-range aviation aircraft from the Russian Aerospace Forces were repeatedly used for surgical strikes against particularly important sites (e.g. command posts, ammunition storages, military equipment, and arm and ammunition plants) of militants of the so-called Islamic State group in Syria.

Earlier it became known that a carrier group from the Russian navy, led by the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier and the Pyotr Velikiy nuclear aircraft-carrying heavy cruiser, is preparing to attack terrorist positions in Syria.
