The US State Department proposed reducing financial assistance to Ukraine in 2018
The State Department of the United States of America presented a budget plan for 2018, which proposed a threefold reduction of the financial assistance to Ukraine in comparison with 2016. This is stated in the project on the website of the State Department.
"More than 667 million USD was allocated in 2016 fiscal year. In the next 2018 fiscal year, which begins in September 2017, the State Department offered to limit payments to 203.78 million USD for the same purposes," the table included in the document says.
The project does not specify the breakdown of funding amounts and what they will be used for. This concerns the provision of funding through such funds as USAID and others in the framework of the projects in the fields of education, health, disability support and others.
It was recently reported that in its US budget proposal, the White House offers to stop the provision of gratuitous military assistance to a number of countries (including Ukraine), replacing it with the issuance of loans.
