The US has not yet decided whether to provide weapons to Ukraine

The United States has not decided on whether to provide weapons Ukraine to yet, though Washington is aware of Kyiv’s requests, as relayed to journalists by a representative of the State Department on Wednesday during a teleconference briefing.

"The US has not decided on supplying weapons to Ukraine yet," he said. At the same time, the US representative did not specify which weaponry is in question - defensive or lethal.

"The talks [with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko], which took place when he was in Washington, concerned the whole spectrum of US-Ukraine security cooperation, Ukraine's desire is clear to us, and at the moment we have not made a decision. We continue to consider the issue," the diplomat added.

After the meeting between Poroshenko and US President Donald Trump in Washington, the Ukrainian leader said that Kyiv and Washington would soon sign agreements on the weapons supply. This information has not yet been confirmed by the White House, the Pentagon, or other US departments.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry's press service announced that Tillerson will visit Hamburg, Kyiv, and Istanbul this week. The press service specified that the head of US diplomacy will join US President Donald Trump, who left for Europe earlier in the week.
