The FSB announced large-scale anti-terrorist exercises in the Crimea
The staff of the Russian FSB Special Forces will conduct large-scale exercises to prevent terrorist attacks and sabotage on land and sea targets in the Crimea, as TASS reported, citing the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service (FSB).
The exercises, according to the interlocutors of the news agency, will be held in the republic from May 24 to 29. About 2,000 military will take part in them, as well as armored vehicles, the Air Force and the Navy.
"During the exercise, the combat readiness of the Special Purpose Center of the FSB of Russia will be evaluated related to the suppression of terrorist acts and the elimination of sabotage groups in the peninsula and in the offshore area," the service representatives explained, noting that within the framework of these exercises "it is planned to involve both aircraft and sea vessels," as well as "special armored vehicles, robotic complexes and modern systems of enemy detection and destruction."
The exercises, according to the Public Relations Center, will be held in two stages. In particular, according to the FSB, special service officers will conduct training at the maritime Crimean enterprise. Chernomorneftegaz, as well as at the health resort and hotel complex in Yevpatoria, including areas of the adjacent coastal zone and the mountain woodland zone.
Earlier, on April 21st, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) relayed information regarding anti-terrorist exercises being conducted along the Crimean border. These activities, according to representatives of the department, were to be held in the Henichesk district of the Kherson region. "These are ordinary systematic drills, which we conduct from time to time," the head of the press service of of the Kherson SBU HQ administration’s press service Viktoria Shakula noted then.
