The President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly confident that Ukraine will join the Alliance in the future

The President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Paolo Alli expressed his confidence that Ukraine will become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance in the future. He stated this at a joint briefing with Andriy Parubiy, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, who recently said that Ukraine should become the next NATO member after Montenegro.

“There is still much to be done along the way but we see very great progress and we are confident that Ukraine will become a NATO member. We, the Parliamentary Assembly will support it in this,” Alli said.

Alli added that the question of the Parliamentary Assembly’s visit to Ukraine is now being discussed: "This is what we are discussing now. I hope that we will be able to come here in full with the Assembly and hold its meeting here in the near future.”

He also said that the protection and support of Ukraine is the protection and support of European countries. “Ukraine is the outpost of Western democracies and common values. We know that supporting Ukraine means supporting ourselves; protecting Ukraine is protecting ourselves,” said the President of NATO PA.

Earlier it was reported that the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Andriy Parubiy, believes that Ukraine should become the next NATO member after Montenegro.
