Russian rocket division placed on high readiness

The Rocket Division of Russia's Eastern Military District, stationed in the Jewish Autonomous Oblast,  was placed on a high alert as a result of the end-of-summer military training.  This was reported by the Acting Head of the press service of the Eastern Military District of Russian Army, Lieutenant-Colonel Vadim Astafyev.

“The personnel of the division performed a 200-kilometer march to Bidzhan [the city in Jewish Autonomous Oblast of Russia].  They were part of a convoy of military equipment, which also included Iskander-M tactical missile systems,” the statement read.

The representatives of the military commission are going to inspect the combat and mobilization readiness of the Rocket Division and also personnel’s level of combat training.

“During the current  week, the missile operators will be tested on their weapons proficiency and also take part in training on radiation, chemical and biological protection and also other combat skills,” Astafyev said.

The ability of Iskander-M crews to detect and destroy the various targets of a hypothetical enemy will also be checked during the final test.

According to Astafyev, the entire staff of the Rocket Division will participate in the final inspection. All of the weapons, and military and special equipment, will be used to carry out practical training tasks.
