Poll: Russians prefer Trump over Clinton
Interfax announced on Tuesday, June 7th, that according to the Public Opinion Foundation, more Russians are in favor of Donald Trump becoming U.S. President than former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
28% of Russians considered Trump's victory in the U.S. Presidential Elections more important for Russia than that of a Clinton victory (9%). 14% of the respondents believe that the relationships between the United States and Russia can improve with Trump while 6% of the respondents believe that Clinton arouses hostility because of her aggressive attitude towards Russia.
26% of Russians said that the election will have nothing to do with Russia. 6% of the respondents stated that the relations between the two countries would not improve. 37% of Russians found it difficult to clearly define their position.
In general, more Russians have a negative view of Trump and Clinton than those who have a positive opinion of the two candidates. 22% of respondents support Trump while 23% of Russians have a negative attitude towards him. Only 8% of Russians supportClinton while nearly half (46%) have a negative view of her. 44% of Russians do not know about Trump and 36% know almost nothing about Clinton. The Public Opinion Foundation presented the results of research based on a telephone survey of one thousand respondents.
If nominated, Hillary Clinton would become the first woman presidential candidate in U.S. history. Officially, the Democratic Party will announce its decision during the Convention in late July. At the end of May, it was reported that presidential candidate and billionaire Donald Trump had gained enough votes for the Republican nomination. The U.S. presidential elections will be held in November.
