Polish Minister of National Defense: Russia and the loss of Christian identity are the main threat to Poland

The countries of eastern Europe, particularly Poland, are faced with the threat of Russian aggression, a major perpetrator of which is Russian business. This was stated by the Minister of National Defense for Poland, Anthoni Macierewicz, during the Economic Forum in Krynica-Zdrój, Poland, a correspondent from Evropeyskaya Pravda reported.

“The example of Ukraine, Moldova and other countries showed us how the former elite – the post-communist elite – became the conductors of the interests of the Kremlin. However, that is not all: a hybrid conductor of the Kremlin’s interests is Russian business operating in Europe. And we should consider this,” Macierewicz was quoted as saying.

The minister recalled a statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin that he made in Poland in 2009, when Putin occupied the position of Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

“[Putin] said that Russia has an exceptional interest in the countries of Eastern Europe, despite the fact that they are now members of the EU. I want to say that I do not think that Putin is a dreamer or not a serious person. On the contrary, he consistently tries to implement these plans,” Macierewicz added.

The second threat to Europe, according to the Polish defense minister, is the new course of the EU and especially the rejection of a Christian identity.

“We are forced to abandon our cultural identity. And lately, after Brexit, this policy has intensified,” the minister added. “Such a policy from Brussels makes the EU even weaker in the face of Russian aggression,” Macierewicz stressed.
