Head of EU delegation to Ukraine: There still exist oligarchs in Ukraine who try to usurp the reforms process

The Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, Hugues Mingarelli said during a conference on Tuesday in Kyiv that there still exist oligarchs in Ukraine who try to usurp the reforms process “daily,” Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“The power of the oligarchs cannot be stronger than three years ago but, nevertheless, they oppose the reform process daily. They try to undermine it in all sectors. Every time the reformist decisions are made, there is an attempt to emasculate these reforms in a few weeks,” he noted.

The diplomat stressed that the cases of confrontation with the changes in Ukraine are not unique. “Every day we see a struggle between reformers in power, in civil society and those who try to preserve their status quo by any means. And this struggle is far from over,” Mingarelli stressed.

According to him, it is necessary that those “who stole in the past” should be punished through an honest trial "so that the Ukrainian society supports the reforms and believes in justice.”
