Lithuania asks the US for help in strengthening its air defenses

Lithuania asks the US for help in strengthening the capacities of air defense in the region. This was stated by the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Lithuania, Juozas Olekas, Delfi reported.

“We have strengthened the ground forces of the military with the battalion group. Now we are talking about simultaneously strengthening the air defense,” Olekas said on Friday at a meeting with the United States Secretary of the Air Force (SECAF), Deborah Lee James.

According to the Minister of Defense, the deployment of additional elements of the US Air Defense in the country will allow absolute operating capacity.

“We are asking Americans to conduct an examination to study our regional architecture of the medium range air defense. And I think we have a solid promise that this will happen. We also have a system of a short range air defense. Some of them were received from the United States and some of them were obtained from other states. This is the total integration of air defense. We also conduct the military exercises, through which our soldiers could master these technologies,” the Minister of Defense stressed.
