Lavrov: Moderate Syrian opposition will be equated to terrorists

The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Lavrov, stated that there are no signs of separation of the Syrian moderate opposition from Al-Nusra Front and that is why it is time to consider the moderate opposition a valid target together with the terrorists. The Russian minister made this statement at a press conference with the heads of the Ministries of Foreign affairs of Syria and Iran.

Lavrov recalled a public statement made by the US Secretary of State, John Kerry, which he made in the beginning of the year. According to Lavrov, Kerry said that if the moderate opposition does not want to identify themselves with the terrorists they have to leave the territories controlled by the so-called Islamic State and join the cease-fire.

“John Kerry finished his statement by saying that if the moderate opposition don’t separate themselves from Al-Nusra Front, they will become the same target as ISIL and Al-Nusra Front,” stated Lavrov.

The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs said that since there are currently no signs of the moderate opposition separating themselves from Al-Nusra Front, it is time to consider them the same target as the terrorists.
